Stafford and Stone  Talking Newspaper  for  the  Blind

About us

The Stafford and Stone Talking Newspaper for the Blind provides a free audiotape of local news every week of the year.

We are one of five hundred Talking Newspapers in Great Britain and are affiliated to the Talking News Federation.  If you wish to receive this service but are interested in an area other than Stafford and Stone, then please go to ‘Useful links’ for the TNF website through which you will be able to find a more appropriate service.

For our part we distribute four hundred audiocassettes to our listeners living in Stafford, Stone, Cannock, Uttoxeter, Eccleshall, Barlaston, and other outlying villages in North Staffordshire every week.

Our organisation consists of around seventy-five volunteers who give their time freely.  Recordings are made on a Thursday evening and the tapes posted early on a Friday morning.  To ease individual commitment we run four production teams thus limiting duty time to one week in four.

All of our funding comes from private individuals and local organisations.  No monies come from National or Local Government sources and local Newspapers freely provide our news.
